Today in West Palm Beach, Fla., 10 finalists from around the country put their twisting, licking and dunking skills to the test in an Oreo Double Stuf Racing League (DSRL) "lick-off" competition. Famed athlete siblings and DSRL pros Peyton and Eli Manning and Venus and Serena Williams were on hand to help coach these "lucky lickers" to victory.
The finalists were divided into two 5-person teams competing for a $10,000 grand prize, split evenly among teammates. The "Oreo Dunkers," coached by the Manning brothers, and the "Oreo Twisters," led by the Williams sisters, had chance to train with the veteran leaguers before they competed as a team. The licking line-up included:
1. Patricia Penland, Arlington VA
2. Anthony Kouba, St. Charles, IL
3. Brian Posik, Spotswood, NJ
4. Bridget Hutchinson, Haskell, NJ
5. Debbie Seavey, Philadelphia, PA
6. Glenn Cox, Forest Hills, NY
7. Gretchen Neubauer, Indianapolis, IN
8. Harriet Brown, Rockford, IL
9. Hayward Tarrats, Manchester, NH
10. Joseph Mena, El Paso, TX
Brian Posik of Spotswood, NJ was the first person to finish the lick race - twisting open the Oreo Double Stuf cookie, licking off the crème, dunking it in milk, eating the cookie and drinking a glass of milk.
About the League:
The famous quarterback brothers kicked off the official "league" last year when they announced that Oreo lick racing was becoming their "second sport." Venus and Serena Williams joined in mid-2008 and challenged the Mannings for DSRL supremacy, thus creating the "Ultimate Sibling Rivalry."
Last week, the DSRL welcomed its first official sponsor, AstroTurf, a company with a long history of supporting professional sports. At this year's DSRL competition, both teams will lick-off for the first time on an official DSRLfield, custom-made by AstroTurf.
