Gaiam, Inc., the leading distributor of lifestyle media in the fitness and wellness market, today announced that both Rodney Yee's Yoga for Beginners DVD and Mari Winsor Pilates DVD have won 2009 Aegis Awards in the Training/Education category. A third Gaiam DVD, Shape: Mari Winsor Pilates for Pink, was named a finalist. The Aegis Awards highlights outstanding video productions, and are judged by people from all professions within the industry including producers, directors, cameramen, and writers.
Since its founding in 1988, Gaiam has won over 150 video industry awards for outstanding quality and innovation. Included among them are 68 Aegis Awards, 71 Annual Telly Awards and 4 U.S. International Film & Video Awards.
"Gaiam is honored to be acknowledged by the Aegis Awards," said Gaiam President of Entertainment and World Wide Distribution, William S. Sondheim. "With every DVD Gaiam produces, we strive to improve on our past successes. We take pride in producing DVDs that are both unique and beneficial, and are thrilled to receive accolades from our peers in the industry."
Rodney Yee recognizes that new yoga practitioners may require extra guidance and support, and has therefore included an onscreen interactive pose guide in his DVD Rodney Yee's Yoga for Beginners. The bonus pose guide allows viewers to see each pose broken down step-by-step for truly easy learning. Yoga masters Rodney Yee and Colleen Saidman Yee demonstrate all the basic poses in this comprehensive 40-minute Pose Training session, in preparation for the two full length workouts set against the backdrop of beautiful Molokai, Hawaii.
Mari Winsor is one of the most recognizable names in Pilates and her DVD Mari Winsor Pilates features a classic Pilates mat workout that delivers results. The 80-minute DVD offers two versions of the workout; a 55-minute in depth routine and a 25-minute express workout. Mari focuses on maximizing weight loss in her Pilates routines, which are intended to strengthen the core, slim and tone legs, and create muscle definition in the upper body.
Shape: Mari Winsor Pilates for Pink is a 50-minute instructional video that includes a free resistance band and offers a blend of Pilates moves and traditional resistance band exercises. One dollar is donated to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation® (BCRF) for every DVD sold, to fund clinical and translational breast cancer research worldwide.
