This was our second year as the presenting sponsor and it's always a fun, educational community event that shows you how to personally lighten your footprint on the earth.
North Vancouver, BC (PRWEB) April 30, 2009
On Sunday, April 19, West Vancouver joined people all across the globe in a day of education to celebrate and protect the environment. West Vancouver Earth Day, presented by North Shore Credit Union, was a free event for the whole family to learn how to take action against climate change. This year's event will took place at the new West Vancouver Recreation Centre.
West Vancouver Earth Day set a clear example of how simple lifestyle changes can help combat climate change. The event featured over 40 informational booths showcasing solutions to lower carbon footprints. Booths at this year's event covered a wide range of topics including how to reduce waste, build green and eat local.
"The first critical step in protecting our environment is education, and North Shore Credit Union is proud to sponsor West Vancouver's Earth Day," says Doug Smith, VP Corporate Affairs and head of NSCU's CSR Committee. "This was our second year as the presenting sponsor and it's always a fun, educational community event that shows you how to personally lighten your footprint on the earth."
Event highlights included 'Keep Cool!', a climate change play, tours of the community centre's green building features and the Solar Power Road Show, which was onsite recharging and recycling household batteries. More information is available at WestVancouver.ca/earthday.
