Yoga Matrika hosts Karmic Salons regularly and they all feature local musicians, poets and writers. The Karmic Salon concept provides local artists with an opportunity to experiment with new work in a supportive environment that allows for intimate exchange between the artist and audience. Yoga Matrika was opened with the intention to strengthen the creative energies of the community and Karmic Salons are just one way that we have developed to support this goal. Each artist performs a 30-minute set and is available for questions and audience feedback. All Karmic Salon events are by donation and do not require reservations or tickets. Events are co-hosted and recorded by Chris "Lurch" Rudyk, owner of Broadcast Lane Studios.

Sharon Fennimore Rudyk first opened YOGA MATRIKA in spring 2007 at 1406 S. Negley Avenue with a desire to create a community-based studio. All classes are for men and women and each instructor brings a unique style, tempo and focus to their class. This community-based approach is not about where you live, it is about recognizing the value of a group of people practicing yoga together and fostering a supportive and safe environment for personal exploration within small-group classes. Yoga Matrika regularly hosts visiting and local yoga, meditation and kirtan experts including KK Ledford, Jill Satterfield, Lisa Clark, Mark Chandlee Taylor, Bhante Pemaratana, Dharmashakti and Emam and Friends. The Matrika Annex is the only holistic yoga-based prenatal and postnatal support center in Western Pennsylvania. Programs include a comprehensive offering of prenatal classes in a variety of styles and experience levels, meditation and belly dance workshops in addition to breastfeeding classes and Dynamic Childbirth preparation.
