Comics are a wonderful and truly American tradition and we are privileged to play a part. We hope this promotion brings new fans to comics and customers to the shops that sell them.
Kansas City, MO (PRWEB) April 30, 2009
This Saturday, May 2, participating comic book retailers across the nation and around the world will celebrate Free Comic Book Day by offering special edition free comic books to all customers who enter their stores. For the first time ever, UCLICK®, the #1 distributor of comics on the web and on mobile phones, is taking the Free Comic Book Day event to the digital space.
Uclick will offer the first issues of several of its hit comic book titles - regularly $.99 (US) cents each - for free on the App Store for iPhone and iPod touch. Uclick will make the apps free for a very limited time beginning Friday afternoon, May 1, until Saturday, May 2, at 11:59 p.m. (PST).
The list of free titles from Uclick includes apps starring the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, a Ghostbusters comic book, comic strip apps featuring The Argyle Sweater and Pibgorn, teen sleuths The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew, manga hit Reality Check!, and more. Uclick will also offer free Dramacon and Screamland apps throughout the Free Comic Book Day promotion.
"Our goal with this promotion is to join in the spirit of Free Comic Book Day and raise awareness of the event and the medium," said Uclick CEO Douglas Edwards. "We are making it easy for people to try a comic book from our collection, and nothing's easier than downloading it on your iPhone or iPod Touch for free. Our hope is that this promotion will spur interest not only in our digital comics, but comics in general, and that those people who download the free apps will also take an interest in the variety of printed books available in their local comic shops.
"Comics are a wonderful and truly American tradition and we are privileged to play a part. We hope this promotion brings new fans to comics and customers to the shops that sell them."
