Job Search Boot Camp to Be Hosted by St. Edward's University

The Job Search Boot Camp which helps job seekers become JOB FINDERS will be hosted by St. Edwards University in Austin, Texas on May 30, 2009. Three industry experts with over 40 years of combined experience will talk about resumes, job search, interviewing, and salary negotiation.

Austin, Texas (PRWEB) May 1, 2009 -- Job search seminar featuring three industry experts is being hosted by St. Edward's University after graduation in May.

On May 30, 2009 from 8:30am-12:30pm, a special seminar will be hosted by St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas. Open to students, as well as the general public, the Job Search Boot Camp will provide tips and tools for job seekers who want to gain a competitive advantage in today's job market and will feature industry experts, Angela Loëb, author of What You Need To Know To Get A Job Now!, Michael Kranes, award-winning Certified Advanced Resume Writer, and Jay Markunas, career coach and HR specialist.

Markunas, who initiated the formation of the Job Search Boot Camp Group when he saw a significant increase in the number of out-of-work professionals showing up at the monthly meetings of his church's career networking group, commented, "The initial Job Search Boot Camp was a great success, so we were really thrilled when St. Edward's proposed we bring the team together again to do this on the campus."

Over the last decade or so there's been a growing trend of older students returning to college, and the economic situation makes finishing or adding a degree a definite resume booster. Markunas has personally observed a rise in the number of people he knows, whether working or unemployed, going back to finish their education or to take specific career-related courses to increase their marketability. In light of this, Markunas sees the Job Search Boot Camp as a natural fit for the college campus.

Recent news from the National Association of Colleges and Employers predicts that 22% fewer graduates will be hired from the class of 2009 compared to last year, causing many students to decide to pursue further education while waiting out the economy. "While these numbers aren't pretty, there are jobs out there. Job seekers just have to work smarter to find out who's hiring, design a resume that stands out from the pack and sharpen up how they articulate their top accomplishments," said Kranes.

At the Job Search Boot Camp, Markunas, Loëb and Kranes will provide training and share their combined 40 years of insider expertise about resumes, interviewing, negotiating salary, and job search strategies. Past seminar attendees have found an infusion of fresh energy and confidence in their job search. "We help people with both the practical and emotional aspects of looking for a job," said Loëb, who has seen much evidence over the years that optimism in conjunction with practical action steps is critical to job seekers' success. "Too often I see people sabotaging themselves because they feel rejected over and over again. It becomes a case of 'I can't find a job because I can't find a job.' We have seen that when people break free of this kind of thinking, they can start getting results."
