America's Oldest Zinfandel Vineyard Displays a New Look and Name
Scott Harvey Wines announces the launch of its new label design with the 2006 Vineyard 1869 Zinfandel, named for the year that is on the property's deed.
Napa Valley, CA (PRWEB) May 1, 2009 -- Showcased in an elegant new package, Vineyard 1869 is now released. Handcrafted by one of Amador County's renowned winemakers, Scott Harvey, this wine exudes the elegance of a 138 year old zinfandel vineyard. The label designer, Connie Schlelein used gold foil to reflect the vineyard's rich history; the vineyards are located in the California Gold Country.

"I wanted this bottle of wine to tell the story of where it's from both inside and out" said Scott Harvey, winemaker and former owner of Vineyard 1869. "Tasting the wine is tasting history through all the layers of soil the roots travel through--up to 25 feet. The name is for the year the deed was documented." These vines have survived both the serious pest phylloxera in the 1890s and the Prohibition era. Schlelein added, "I designed the package to convey that the person drinking it has hit the Mother Lode - a historic Zinfandel made by a master winemaker.
The vineyard is well-known among Zinfandel aficionados. Also known as Grandpere Vineyard, OGP, and Harvey Vineyard, it has been embroiled in a trademark dispute that is now settled.
Vineyard 1869 will retail for $45 and is available only at the Scott Harvey Tasting Room in Sutter Creek or on the website. http://www.scottharveywines.com.
