Christchurch, New Zealand (PRWEB) May 1, 2009
In these unstable economic times, traditional advertisers are starting to feel the pinch but online advertisers are experiencing some of their most amazing moments in domestic and off shore marketing growth. Local Christchurch Company Optymise Limited is at the forefront of the massive e-marketing boom in New Zealand and is excited about the opportunities the recession can bring to local companies around New Zealand. As many businesses are experiencing economic hardship, thousands are turning to online marketing to get more bang for their advertising buck, and according to the Interactive Advertising Association, spending on online marketing is expected to grow by 16 per cent in 2009 worldwide as more companies realize there is no point in hard times to spend inch of their budgets on any advertising that does not bring some return.
Robyn MacDonald, Managing Director of Optymise Limited, tells us that her online marketing business has picked up strongly since the beginning of October because of the worldwide recession, not despite it. Marketing departments of NZ businesses are often the first to be cut back in times of hardship as they are not seen as direct business, but 2009 has been a different story altogether. Robyn is excited about the opportunities that have arisen from recession as the trend for online marketing seems to have strengthened. "We've had our busiest time in over ten years in the last few months, with the increased interest in online marketing and the demand for our products and services has gone through the roof." She is over the moon with results from her clients and is excited about more businesses getting involved in online marketing - "while we have had some clients downsize their online marketing spend with us and even closed up shop altogether, we have been getting new clients on a regular basis and we've never been so busy." Optymise has had huge success in marketing campaigns for their national and international clients with most of these clients experiencing a rapid increase in consumer spending on their websites in these last months. This can be explained by the fact that while consumers are likely to spend less on traditional shopping, they are turning more and more to the internet to find the best deal so they can get more bangs for their shopping buck.
"The New Zealand business sector is beginning to catch up with the rest of the world and realize that the opportunities to take control of your own situation are real, available and cheaper than ever if they utilize their opportunities on the internet to increase sales and increase brand awareness. At any other time in history we have been limited to our immediate environment to find opportunities to excel business, whereas now the internet has given us a real chance at attracting the right customers who are genuinely interested in our products and services". Kiwi businesses who have turned to online marketing have found the success priceless. A NZ diamond retailer who commissioned Optymise to find their online opportunities and boost their sales has been astounded with the results and experienced online growth of over 20% since the recession began to take effect in October last year.
The right conditions are here in New Zealand as Social Media Marketing such as Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, YouTube, Google, Wikipedia, Bebo, and Skype have all become part of a daily marketing regime for thousands of Kiwis.
The facts from Times Online reports backup the continued trend strengthening the online marketing boom: last October Microsoft paid $240m for a 1.6% stake in Facebook; Dow Jones recently announced that venture capital for internet start-ups had reached almost $1 billion; global online advertising revenue is projected to rise by 2010 to $55 billion; that Google's shares were recently valued at over $700.
It is obviously a prime time for New Zealand businesses to be on the look out for an expanding range of online opportunities in the near future. If the worldwide market is anything to go by (and it usually is), online marketing is about to move from a nice thought to a compelling reality for many of us.
