Sabbath Song Farm announces the opening of The Country Lodge for artists and art lovers of all kinds. This 260-acre ranch is an inspirational retreat for families, friends, co-workers or groups looking for a place to relax and enjoy nature. Photos and more information can be found at their web site at http://www.sabbathsongfarm.com.
The Boatmans purchased the home for their herd of dogs and horses in 2007. Moving back to their mid-western roots from Los Angeles, CA, the artsy couple decided they wanted to share this haven of delight with others. The previous owners it had already named it Sabbath Song, and according to the Boatmans it was a perfect description. It became "Sabbath Song Farm" as they changed it into a working farm.
Sabbath Song Farm offers something for everyone--fishing, (in one of eight ponds), hiking, horseback riding, trails, woods, creeks and, of course, The Country Lodge.
Equipped to provide sleeping for 12 people, The Country Lodge has two baths, a commercial kitchen, and a huge arts and craft room in the basement. The Country Lodge is as unique as it is beautiful. The deck is complete with deck chairs, a Webber grill and the most incredible views in the state. But what makes Sabbath Song Farm, and The Country Lodge, a place where people can't wait to return to, is the hospitality of Wes and Carolyn.
Carolyn has a full schedule of classes and activities scheduled through the fall of this year; everything from painting to blueberry picking to evening wagon rides across the ridges. A full calendar of activities can be viewed on their web site.
Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, careers, choices and following dreams took this dynamic couple to California. Looking for an adventure, Wes took his wife, and best friend, along for the ride. Work overtook their lives and the days became years.
"The feelings of tightness through the neck and shoulders come from hour after hour, often running into days, of staring into computer screens," said Wes, "Then, about the time everyone else is starting to 'slow down, relax, maybe even take it easy'... one decides to buy a farm... Owning a farm, well, one gets a WHOLE NEW sense of tightness in the shoulders." Wes smiles. Their farm has also become a home to their 12 English Mastiffs and their Paso Fino horses.
"Sharing our farm is just one small way we hope to give back, what has so plentifully been given to us." Carolyn exudes energy. Her smile is contagious, her laughter, plentiful. "I am all about fellowship and relationships, sharing our country get-away with folks who work hard every day and need a break from it all."
From the greeting at the farm gate, to the delicious welcoming muffins, to the care and selection of the décor, the Country Lodge is the perfect respite for guests from all over. If you are looking for a retreat, a romantic get-away, a family hide-out or a business team-building location, Sabbath Song Farm is the perfect spot and only 60-minutes from downtown Cincinnati, within driving distance from Lexington and a short ride to Maysville, KY.
