New Educational Toy E-Store Debuts Informational Blog
A new web venture, FunHelpersPlus.com is a site that specializes in high quality and affordable educational toys. Recently, the site added a new blog to its many features and its founder sat down to discuss the importance of education AND entertainment.
Brantford, Canada (PRWEB) May 2, 2009 -- It's no secret that when a parent turns on the television and sees the commercials for contemporary toys, they're clearly solely for the purpose of (temporary) entertainment and have very little-to-no educational value. And some people may argue, "What's the harm in that?" Putting valueless entertainment over prudent education has resulted in some of the statistics that were revealed in 2008 report by the Children's Defense Fund.
According to the report, two-thirds of public school fourth graders cannot read at grade level and six out of 10 cannot do math at grade level; even more staggering is how this failure increases in middle school, where seven out of ten public school eighth graders cannot read or do math at grade level.

Lapping is the proprietor of Fun Helpers Plus, which launched in February 2009. Lapping's own son uses the educational toys she features on her site, which she says has helped him tremendously.
"He's farther along in his education than what the standards suggest," she said.

"The blog will have tips on how to try and help kids learn," she said. "We'll also post information on any safety issues for playtime."
While Lapping ensures that the toys on her site are the best combination of entertainment and education for the kids, she's also certain that they will help the parents as well.
"These toys will help parents engage with their children and there's something about watching the cogs in a child's head move and really understanding the goal of a game or an activity. It's a very beautiful thing," she said.
