The Amazon Innovation Scholarship will be awarded to an exceptional nonprofit publisher who attends the '09 Stanford Professional Publishing Course. The 7-day Course focuses on the digital transformation of magazine and book publishing. Application deadline: May 15, 2009.

Stanford, CA (PRWEB) May 6, 2009 -- Amazon is looking to support an innovative nonprofit publisher who wants to attend the 2009 Stanford Professional Publishing Course, which takes place at Stanford University July 11-17, 2009. The Amazon Innovation Scholarship will cover full tuition, lodging, and travel expenses to the Stanford Professional Publishing Course, which continues to focus on the digital transformation of the publishing world. Application deadline is May 15. For more details: http://publishingcourses.stanford.edu/sppc/financial_aid.html

The Stanford Professional Publishing Course is an intensive, hands-on, week-long program for established book and magazine publishing professionals who are reinventing media in a digital world. Since 1978, over 3,000 experienced publishing professionals, representing leading book and magazine publishers from around the globe, have attended the program, immersing themselves in a creative environment dedicated to incubating new approaches to the business of publishing.

"The need for publishers to engage in innovative thinking has never been more urgent," says Holly Brady, director of Stanford Publishing Courses. "PubCourse is a place to do that kind of deep, cross-platform thinking. We're delighted that Amazon is sponsoring this new Innovation Scholarship; their generosity will enable a worthy publisher to attend."

The scholarship will be awarded to a book or magazine publisher who has demonstrated particular innovation either in using new technologies to deliver content or in developing new business models to sustain and promote publishing in a digital age. All nonprofit magazine or book publishers in the U.S. or abroad are eligible to compete for this scholarship, so long as they also meet the criteria for attending the Course.
