Gift of Life to Launch Groundbreaking Fundraising Initiative at Annual Partners for Life Gala

New York, NY (Vocus/PRWEB ) May 5, 2009 –The Gift of Life Bone Marrow Foundation, an international bone marrow registry, is pleased to announce the beginning of a new fundraising initiative. The foundation has been the subject of news reports since it announced a substantial loss of funding in the wake of the Madoff scandal. But foundation chairman Jay Feinberg is undaunted, and ready to help save more lives than ever before.
On the evening of May 14, 2009, Gift of Life will unveil a new, ambitious plan to restore its funding and help more people than ever: a groundbreaking technological initiative that will fuel the testing of 150,000 new bone marrow donors. The announcement will be made at an upcoming major New York City fundraiser at the Marriott Marquis Hotel.
The kickoff will feature three New York-area bone marrow donors who will meet their grateful transplant recipients on stage for the very first time. Warren Eisenberg, Chairman and Co-Founder of Bed Bath & Beyond, and one of the newest members of Gift of Life's board of directors said, “I am involved in many good charities, but only one where I actually can see the people whose lives we’ve saved, and that’s Gift of Life.”
Over 500 invited guests will stand in solidarity with Gift of Life on May 14, including over 100 bone marrow donors and transplant survivors. Honored guests include Steve Geller, Co-Founder and Chairman of MDVIP, a preventative and personalized healthcare company serving over 100,000 people in 30 states. The legendary Len Berman, recently retired New York NBC-TV sports anchor, will serve as the event’s Master of Ceremonies.
The Partners for Life Gala is Gift of Life’s largest fundraising event of the year. It's also one of the largest gatherings of donors and recipients in the world. Members of the media are encouraged to attend. All participants will be available for photos and interviews following their introductions.
