WorldatWork Launches Online Community for HR and Total Rewards Professionals
WorldatWork has recently launched the WorldatWork Online Community. Open to the public, this community is designed to give compensation, benefits, work-life and rewards professionals a virtual forum to interact and connect with industry peers.
Scottsdale, AZ (PRWEB) May 6, 2009 -- WorldatWork, a professional association for human resources practitioners, has recently launched the WorldatWork Online Community. Open to the public, this community is designed to give compensation, benefits, work-life and rewards professionals a virtual forum to interact and connect with industry peers. The launch comes at a time when the economic downturn is presenting unprecedented challenges to employers and human resources practitioners, and when a record amount of employment-related legislation is making its way through Congress.
“Our new online community introduces global practitioners to a borderless community of practice,” said Ryan Johnson, vice president of publishing and community for WorldatWork. “WorldatWork has created a safe place – free from recruiting, banner advertising and job hunting – for HR practitioners to come together virtually, share challenges and solve human capital problems together.”
Community members can search for a topic and find discussions, resources (i.e. articles, books, surveys), and people who are currently working on a given issue or have dealt with it before. For example, one member posted a question related to how companies are dealing with the potential swine flu pandemic. Specifically, she was interested in learning about any changes to company travel or paid-time-off policies. Utilizing the search box and typing the words “swine flu” brought up all the discussion posts from other members on this topic as well as several resources available online, which included a link to a health advisory, a transcript of a recent press briefing by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a link to a sample pandemic plan on PandemicFlu.gov, as well as news articles and blogs discussing pandemics.
Other topics members of the WorldatWork Online Community are currently discussing include executive pay, paycheck fairness, severance plans, medical benefits, health-care costs and more. The compensation discussion board is by far the most popular with 1,537 topics as of May 1; the benefits discussion board has 286 topics; work-life has 52.
The WorldatWork Online Community is available free of charge. HR professionals and anyone interested in attracting, motivating and retaining a workforce can submit a question, contribute to the discussions, invite others to join, rate content, and access resources (WorldatWork Premier Members have access to member-only resources). Visit www.worldatwork.org/community for more information.
