LaunchDM, provider of custom digital signage content, and OpenEye, a global digital signage agency partnered with 3M Digital Signage in developing a dynamic digital wayfinding system for the National Museum of Natural History (NMNH) at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C. It is the first digital wayfinding system of its kind ever assembled.
The wayfinding concept engages museum visitors through strategically placed digital displays. Each display spins custom digital Flash content, developed by LaunchDM, which was designed to educate, inform, and direct the visitor to various activities and exhibits within the museum. Bryan Meszaros, Director of Business Development for OpenEye said, "We are truly excited with the results of this project and believe we have created a new standard for using digital signage as a wayfinding tool."
Rob Wolf, managing partner and creative director for LaunchDM said, "In addition to developing the Flash content, LaunchDM constructed a custom content management system (CMS) through which the museum can make live edits to all dynamic Flash content playing on the museum displays. The content and playlists can be updated from one central location, making it very easy for the museum to keep their content fresh."
