Founded in 1994, the tour company has served millions of locals and visitors alike on their all-day tours and private charters. Tours available beginning May 23rd this year include five new additions.
1. Added value
Riders that purchase the popular Hop On and Hop Off Signature Tour will now receive a complimentary souvenir t-shirt, a sample of Garrett Gourmet Popcorn's famous Chicago mix, and a Hershey's chocolate bar. The city tour stops at 18 city attractions, allowing riders to hop on or off at will throughout the day. The new guidebook/tickets now offer over 30 tips on what to see and do at the various stops. For just $29, the entire package offers riders access to an entertaining and informative tour and low-cost transportation to key cultural, shopping, dining and attractions.
2. Wrigley Field and the Cubs
An official partner of the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Trolley & Double Decker Company introduces this year a new North Neighborhoods Tour that travels to Wrigley Field (day games excluded). This allows guests the unique opportunity to hop off and purchase an insider's tour of historic Wrigley Field. The route also includes stops at the Chicago History Museum, Lincoln Park Zoo, and Blue Man Group's Briar Street Theatre.
3. Obama's Chicago
A new South Neighborhoods Tour adds stops at the impressive DuSable Museum and the Museum of Science and Industry. During the lively new tour, guides will weave in stories and highlights about President Obama's Chicago experiences and connections.
4. Opa! to the Oprah Store
The new West Neighborhoods Tour offers a peak into the cultural diversity Chicago offers. This tour visits key destinations from Greektown to the Oprah Store and adjacent Harpo Studios, to Chinatown and Little Italy.
5. Day Trippers
Those visitors arriving by Amtrak or Metra trains now have the convenience of starting their day of touring at either Union Station's Adams Street entrance or Ogilvie Station's Canal Street stop.
Ticket purchase possibilities
Red-vested ticket sales agents for Chicago Trolley & Double Decker Company are posted throughout the city, steps from most hotels, for on-the-spot purchases. Tickets can also be purchased at the Park Shop in Millennium Park. For added savings, riders can purchase tour tickets online and save 10 percent off of regular rates.
Rates for all-day tour access are: adults $29; $24 for seniors 65 and older and military; $17 for children ages 3 to 11 (and kids receive two extra days free). A value Multi-day adult pass is available for $45 and valid for up to three days. Tickets purchased between May 23 and September 7 include new North, West and South tours. Tours operate daily except Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Vehicles depart the designated stops every 10-15 minutes. Last chance to board during summer tours is 6 p.m.
