Submitting Too Many Resumes May Hinder Job Search; CollegeGrad.com Survey
A survey conducted by CollegeGrad.com--the #1 entry-level job site on the Internet--found that 59 percent of recent college graduates plan to submit 30 or more resumes during their initial search for employment. Many job-search experts agree, however, that recent grads may find more success by focusing on the quality of their resumes instead of relying on mass distribution.

Nearly 59 percent of respondents reported that they would send out 30 or more resumes as part of their entry-level job search.
College Graduates are expecting to distribute more resumes than ever. But can a job seeker send out too many resumes?
"Even in a down market, employment experts maintain that a tailored resume is the best approach," Director of Marketing and Public Relations for CollegeGrad.com, Adeola Ogunwole said. "Instead of sending out as many resumes as possible, applicants may enjoy greater success if they focus on understanding the companies to which they are applying and modifying resumes to fit the exact qualifications needed for specific positions."
Entry-level job seekers may be shocked to hear that submitting too many resumes can hinder their job search.
"The mass email method often convinces job seekers that they're taking the necessary measures to get their names out there," Ogunwole said. "But more often than not, the mass email method leads to mass rejection."
Ogunwole also recommends conducting detailed research on a company before sending over a cover letter and resume. Get a good handle on their histories, recent news, and make sure to read job descriptions carefully. Each and every one of these measures should be incorporated into all job-search materials.
