American Air & Water®, Inc. Starts an Internship Program for Marketing to the Federal Government
American Air & Water®, Inc., hired Shanna Frappier, a USCB student, as its first intern for the internship program targeted at marketing to the federal government. The program was accepted by USCB to provide students with practical experience in exploring government procurement opportunities.
Hilton Head Island, SC, (PRWEB) May 11, 2009 -- American Air & Water®, Inc., hired Shanna Frappier, a USCB student, as its first intern for the internship program targeted at marketing to the federal government. The program was accepted by USCB to provide students with practical experience in exploring government procurement opportunities.
After obtaining GSA contracts for the American-Lights® germicidal UV systems and Sporicidin Disinfectant and Antimicrobial Soap, American Air & Water®, Inc. developed a marketing program to present its environmental products to the federal buyers.
Scott Bellows and Patricia Cameron, with the Small Business Development Center respectively at USC-Moore School of Business and the USC-Beaufort, provided counseling and help for the program. Warren Lynn, President of American Air & Water®, Inc. suggested that the research of the federal procurement databases could be delegated to business students through ongoing internship programs offering valuable knowledge and experience to the interns.
The internship program was accepted by USCB to reinforce classroom learning. The interns will receive credit for an upper-level business course and are expected to document their learning experience.
Shanna Frappier was approved for the program designed to explore opportunities for marketing to the federal government through GSA contracts by data mining, reports and drafting bids requested by the Federal and State Governments. She is also encouraged to develop job description, career and compensation program for future employment with American Air & Water®, Inc.
Veronica Godshalk, Ph.D., Business Administration Department Chair at USC-Beaufort commented: "Shanna Frappier is one of our best Business Administration students. Our internship program attempts to create the best match between corporate needs and those of our students. Shanna appears to be adding value in her internship position, and learning at the same time."
Scott Bellows, Procurement Specialist with USC Small Business Development Center in Columbia stated: "Our use of online web conferencing has made long-distance collaboration like this possible. Venturing into government contracting can be frustrating and, at times, a bit perilous if you're new to the game. It's always rewarding to work with people like Shanna so that they can avoid the pitfalls that those that go it alone tend to make."
Patricia Cameron, MBA, Business Consultant with USCB-SBDC, stated: "The Student Intern program offered by the Business Department at USCB is a great opportunity for students to gain valuable work-related experience in their chosen field of interest. Mr. Lynn's need for marketing assistance seemed like a perfect match for the Business Intern Program at USCB. I was pleased to introduce Mr. Lynn to that program."
Warren Lynn, President of American Air & Water®, Inc. stated: "The intern program is very exciting and rewarding for our staff because it makes all of us better - I believe we all learn more when we teach."
