DataChambers to Build Second Data Center, Expand Existing Facilities
Fueled by growth in its business, the information technology company DataChambers is investing in two projects that will more than double the company's capacity to host and manage client systems. The company is building a second data center, while also expanding its current data center facility for the second time in less than a year. DataChambers now serves clients in 28 states.
Winston-Salem, NC (PRWEB) May 13, 2009 -- The technology firm DataChambers today announced plans to build a second data center on its 80-acre Winston-Salem campus. In addition, the company plans to expand its existing data center for the second time in less than a year.
Together the two projects represent an investment of more than $9 million and will more than double the company's capacity to serve clients.
"We're responding to a strong growth in our business - fueled by companies trying to do more with limited budgets," said Nicholas Kottyan, CEO of DataChambers. "Typically our clients find we can deliver a level of service they simply are unable to replicate affordably on their own."
From its current data center, DataChambers serves more than 110 firms in 28 states. Clients use the facility to house both backup systems and the primary data networks that underpin their business.
To expand capacity, DataChambers will create a new 20,000-square-foot data center from a series of vacant rooms in the former Western Electric manufacturing plant where the company makes its home. The space is located 18 feet underground in a blast-resistant structure. Interior demolition is now underway.
DataChambers also is expanding its existing data center to maximum capacity by reconfiguring walls and adding approximately 1,500 square feet of space. This is the second expansion of the facility in less than a year to accommodate new clients, and work is already underway.
