Basics of Starting and Running a Business Come to Elementary and Middle School Classrooms

Lesson plans, projects and hands-on activities plant the seeds of entrepreneurship at an early age.

New York, NY (PRWEB) May 14, 2009 -- The Council for Economic Education announced today the revised and updated Economics and Entrepreneurship: Operating a Classroom Business in the Elementary and Middle School (http://store.councilforeconed.org/economics-and-entrepreneurship.html).

This "how to" guide equips teachers with the tools to start a classroom business with their students. There are five chapters with step-by-step procedures for setting up and running a classroom business. Along with helpful teaching tips, teachers use interactive classroom projects to help their students strengthen their understanding of fundamental economics and business concepts.

Students will leave the classroom with the appreciation that running a business is both profitable and fun.

For teachers new to teaching entrepreneurship content, there are thorough explanations of economics and business concepts in each chapter. Teaching objectives, hands-on activities and clear visuals put classroom projects into motion, while discussion questions and teaching tips help teachers reinforce their students' knowledge of economics topics.

Special features in the revised Economics and Entrepreneurship include helpful assessments and a unique business and economic attitude survey that allows teachers to measure their students' knowledge of running a business. Teachers can enrich their instruction and extend the lessons with an annotated bibliography of 45 children stories that add an important language arts component to each lesson.
