Swift & McDonald Opens New Office in Seattle

Criminal defense firm, formed last year by award-winning military justice attorney and highly regarded public defender, now serving clients from new suite in city

Seattle (Lexis Nexis/PRWEB ) May 14, 2009 -- The Seattle-based law firm of Swift & McDonald, which specializes in the criminal defense of professional individuals, has relocated to new office space in downtown Seattle.

The firm moved into an elegant suite at 2003 Western Avenue, Suite 330. The new office phone number is 206.441.3377.

Swift & McDonald was formed last fall by Charlie Swift and Catherine McDonald, two seasoned criminal defense attorneys with a combination of more than 25 years of trial experience representing individuals accused of crimes.

"In the prosecution of criminal cases, the government employs an army of attorneys, police investigators, public affairs officers and forensic experts," said McDonald. "An effective criminal defense requires a team that can respond with expertise of its own. Charlie and I offer a team approach that combines over twenty-five years of experience with unique personal strengths to give our clients the best chance at a successful outcome."

Swift is a nationally renowned attorney who earned widespread recognition for his defense of Salim Hamdan, a detainee at Guantanamo Bay and former driver of Osama bin Laden. His work on this and other high-profile military justice cases resulted in his selection as one of the "100 Most Influential Lawyers" in 2006 by the National Law Journal and one of "America's One Hundred Best and Brightest" in 2004 by Esquire Magazine, along with several other exceptional professional awards. Swift served as a defense counsel in the JAG (Judge Advocate General) Corps, where he handled more than 150 courts-martial.

McDonald worked for 13 years as a public defender in Seattle. She was a felony attorney for five straight years, providing representation and counsel to more than 500 clients. She achieved acquittals and outright dismissals in five of the last seven contested trials she did in the felony unit.

Swift and McDonald were law school classmates, both graduating from Seattle University in 1994. In 2008, Swift relocated to Seattle and the two of them resigned each of their prior positions in order to launch their criminal defense law partnership.
