Everything You Need Can Grow: New Work by Christopher David Ryan
Exhibition dates: June 4 - July 7, 2009; reception date: June 4, 7 - 9 pm
San Francisco design store and gallery, Rare Device, is proud to present Everything You Need Can Grow: New Work by Christopher David Ryan (http://cdryan.com). Ryan's work will occupy the Rare Device gallery June 4 - July 7, 2009. A reception for the artist will be held Thursday, June 4 from 7 - 9 pm.
Everything You Need Can Grow is a tale of fantasy versus reality. "At times, in the mind, there is a thin fragile line between reality and fantasy," writes Ryan.
"Imagine finding that reality has left you stranded in a long, dark, lonely and cold season with a barren terrain and only scarves, hats, gloves and boots surrounding you."
"Imagine that fantasy bringing you back to more radiant lost days and to spring and all that it brings: it's light, color, and flora. Imagine that spring will come to save you from the ache of your reality."
Everything You Need You Can Grow will include 38 original illustrations in watercolor, ink and gouache, each 11 x 14 inches (28 x 35 cm). The installation of these illustrations will be accompanied by book of the same title, which will include 38 full color, perfect bound pages. A signed edition of 100 will be sold exclusively at Rare Device and on mylittleunderground.net.
