New York, NY (PRWEB) May 19, 2009 -- Fodor's and the Maryland Office of Tourism announce the co-sponsorship of travel photography contest "Show Us Your Maryland." Starting May 18th, 2009, visitors to Fodors.com will have the opportunity to upload and share their favorite photos of Maryland with other travelers and the chance to win prizes, including Fodor's travel guides.
"Maryland offers residents and visitors alike a vast array of diverse landscapes to showcase in the 'Show Us Your Maryland' photo contest -- beaches, the Chesapeake Bay, natural and theme parks as well as its bustling downtown neighborhoods," said Margot Amelia, executive director, Maryland Office of Tourism. "Our partnership with Fodor's is an excellent opportunity to see Maryland through the eyes of the traveler. We look forward to seeing the results."
From May 18th until June 17th, 2009, Fodors.com members are invited to "Show Us Your Maryland" by submitting their favorite vacation photos, and the stories behind them, of America's beloved 7th state. One grand prize winning photographer will win a suite of Fodor's new full-color guidebooks, two tickets to the Maryland Wine Festival, and a deluxe Maryland wine and picnic basket complete with a dinner setting for two. The winning photos will be featured in an online gallery at www.Fodors.com and may appear in upcoming editions of Fodor's Maryland guides.
"We find that user-generated photographs and their stories create a strong connection with the destination and a better sense of the experience you might have when you visit," said Tim Jarrell, Fodor's Publisher. He added, "From hiking in Western Maryland, touring a vineyard or a Civil War battlefield, or taking in a Baltimore museum, Maryland has an abundance of sights and activities to offer travelers. We can't wait to see what our users come up with."
Photo submissions will be accepted at www.Fodors.com through June 17th, 2009. Fodor's has previously run contests for New Mexico, Costa Rica, California, Florida, Turkey, Israel, and Alaska photos. Winning photos from these contests can be seen on www.fodors.com.
