LocaModa, the leading Digital Out-of-Home distribution platform for interactive media, today announced that its Obama Minute Wiffiti campaign has been selected as an Official Honoree of The 13th Annual Webby Awards. Each year, less than 15% of the nearly 10,000 global entries are awarded the status of Official Honorees.

The Obama Minute Wiffiti campaign, which ran for a two-month span before and after the 2008 presidential election, displayed real-time text messages on a gigantic digital billboard on Broadway and 49th Street and played an integral role in the fundraising efforts for ObamaMinute.com. Over 10,000 supporters were emailed the link to the Times Square screen, which was synched with hundreds of embedded Wiffiti displays on supporters’ blogs and websites.

“Obama Minute Wiffiti was such an inspiring project for us to work on. It was both a celebration of social media and a nod to the continuing democratization of technology, showcased in the epicenter of the mediasphere – it seemed a fitting way to capture such a pivotal election,” said Jayne Karolow, LocaModa’s Director of Community.
