Infohrm Survey Suggests That CEOs are Playing a Greater Role in Driving Workforce Planning
Survey results are featured at day 1 of Infohrm’s 2009 Workforce Planning Summit.
Washington, DC (PRWEB) May 21, 2009 -- Infohrm, the global leader in workforce planning, reporting and analytics solutions, today reported that workforce planning initiatives are increasingly driven by CEOs, CFOs, and Boards of Directors, according to attendees at the 2009 Infohrm Workforce Planning Summit.
Conducting audience pulse surveys, Infohrm found that while 40 percent of respondents stated that their Head of HR is the driving force behind workforce planning, a further 28 percent see the C-Suite as the primary motivator for launching a workforce planning program. The results suggest that senior executives increasingly view workforce planning as a strategic business, rather than HR, process and are seeking new ways of maximizing their competitive advantage through long-term human capital management.
Similarly, in ranking the skills that are most important for workforce planning, attendees indicated that “strategic thinking” is the most sought-after attribute of workforce planning professionals, outranking “persuasion and influencing” and “problem-solving”. This finding underlines Infohrm’s perspective that workforce planning is most valuable when owned by business unit leaders, with HR serving as strategic consultants to the process.
In light of the current economic environment and growing awareness of the importance of workforce planning, 65 percent of attendees stated that the use of workforce planning data has increased in 2009, as compared to previous years, suggesting that HR, line leaders, and business executives are better able to utilize forecasting data for both short- and long-term human capital decisions.
Infohrm’s pulse surveys were a feature of Day 1 at the 2009 Infohrm Workforce Planning Summit. Participants heard from workforce planning experts including Shawn Williams of Hewlett-Packard and ArcelorMittal’s Adriana Ico, and attended facilitated breakout sessions with peers at a similar stage of workforce planning implementation. The Summit continues on Tuesday, May 19 and is followed by post-conference workshops on Workforce Planning, Advanced Workforce Planning, and The ROI of Metrics.
