Jon Hoch founded Power Equipment Direct in his basement after an awful experience shopping for a lawn mower. Today, the Bolingbrook, IL-based e-commerce company operates nine niche web sites, generating more than $20 million in annual sales.
The online power equipment retailer is expecting additional growth in 2009. It already doubled its warehousing capability with the launch of a second distribution center. In addition, it significantly expanded its customer service staff and store hours.
