Gaia Online, the world's most active online community of more than seven million users, today announced it will host its second annual virtual prom event, Promageddon. Unlike the real-world prom, Promageddon isn't one night only; the virtual party kicks off on Wednesday, May 20 and activities last through Wednesday, June 3. Gaia Prom-goers can experience two full weeks of five uniquely-themed virtual hangout spaces, Gaia prizes, dancing and more.

Matchmaker, matchmaker, make me a match. For the first week only, Promageddon will get the party started with a matchmaking quiz and cool prizes. To help Gaians make new friends, Gaia Online will walk in Cupid's shoes for the week and match participants with other compatible users based on the results of a personality quiz. After users meet their matches, they can head to the forums to chat with their newfound friends or check out the Gaia Cash Shop for exclusive prom virtual goods.

Let the dancing begin. Promageddon's main event will launch May 28 with stylin' avatar prom wear and five diversely-themed flash rooms where users can win prizes, hang out, chat and dance. No annoying chaperones at this Masquerade Ball; with a Dance Dance Revolution-style game accessible from each room, prom-goers can dance their hearts out. Jump (or dance) from room to room to experience different themes, including Hillbilly, Hell, Heaven and Aquarium.

"Gaians are always looking for cool and entertaining ways to hang out with their friends online and this year we wanted to put a whole new spin on prom," said Scott Kinzie. "The ultimate goal with events like Promageddon is to create a unique and accessible experience for our users that is unlike anything else they'll see online."

Exclusively for Promageddon, Gaia Online will introduce seven brand new music tracks composed by artists Jeff Miyahara and Bentley Jones. Prom-goers can learn more about the artists and compositions through profiles that can be accessed in the Promageddon dance game.
