Phurnace Announces Integration with BMC BladeLogic® and HP Server Automation®

Deployment Automation Company Extends Capability to Leading IT Management Systems

Austin, Texas (PRWEB) May 26, 2009 -- Phurnace Software, Inc., the Java application deployment company, today announced the availability of direct integrations with BMC's BladeLogic and HP's Server Automation (Opsware) data center automation applications. The integrations enable BMC and HP customers to fully automate their application deployment processes and replace the hand-crafted scripts that must be built for each customer implementation. The Phurnace functionality can now be accessed directly from within the Phurnace Deliver™ user interface or launched in the background from the consoles or as automated tasks within either BladeLogic or Server Automation. The integration also provides the capability of deployment reporting back into the BMC and HP systems.

The integration provides customers with an end-to-end automated application deployment process -- utilizing the BMC and HP processes and functionality combined with the Phurnace Deliver ability to automatically configure and deploy applications into the web application server layer. Customers will be able to more efficiently release, update, install and manage applications throughout their environments.

"This integration is important because it demonstrates our commitment to fit in seamlessly to the existing infrastructure that is used for the provisioning and management of software applications," said Daniel Nelson, vp of products at Phurnace Software. "This provides the final missing step in the software development lifecycle. Too often, companies use a manual process or a series of difficult-to-maintain scripts to prepare the environment and deliver software releases into production. BMC and HP both provide robust systems for the data center and we wanted to fit in seamlessly, extending automation for "the last mile".

Phurnace Deliver provides comprehensive support for IT staff and developers during complex enterprise Java deployments and troubleshooting to decrease errors, streamline implementations and avoid the downtime and outages that come with manual or script-based processes.

With the BMC and HP integrations, Phurnace Deliver customers who utilize BladeLogic or Server Automation will be able to:

  • Have a fully automated and script-less deployment process.
  • Generate audit reports of exactly what changed to a target system after a deployment.
  • Gain visibility into the changes that will happen to an environment prior to the actual deployment by leveraging the Phurnace Deliver "Preview" functionality.
  • Have the ability to fail promotions and roll-back to a prior release if deployments result in unexpected changes to the target environment.
  • Version and change control of application configuration data.
  • Define access control at the object level.
  • Audit configurations based on rules, best practices, and heuristics.
  • Insure compliance to standards across the enterprise.
"Deploying Java applications today is a complex process fraught with peril, in which administrators customize their scripts by hand," said Rachel Chalmers, research director, Infrastructure Computing for the Enterprise (ICE) at The 451 Group. "The build process and the data center have already been automated. There's no reason not to apply the same principles to application deployment, and this is what Phurnace has done. In fact they have integrated their software with data center automation frameworks, making it easier to position it as an add-on to existing systems rather than a far-reaching process or infrastructure change."

Phurnace supports deployments of J2EE™ applications into IBM WebSphere®, Oracle WebLogic®, RedHat JBoss® and IBM WebSphere Portal® environments. Phurnace already supports direct integration with Electric Cloud® ElectricCommander and IBM Rational Build Forge® for release and deployment automation and has the IBM "Ready for Rational" product validation.
