Sun and Fun Bring Crowds to Lake Havasu City for Memorial Day Weekend
Holiday revelry in Havasu. Thousands of boaters flocked to Lake Havasu City for the long Memorial Day weekend, which serves as the "unofficial" start to the summer boating season.
Lake Havasu City, Ariz. (Vocus/PRWEB ) May 24, 2009 -- Warm temps and sunny skies made the perfect backdrop for a busy holiday weekend in Lake Havasu City.
Thousands of vacationers made their way to Lake Havasu City for the long holiday weekend.
Thousands of people took to the lake enjoying the unofficial start to summer. While many boaters hit the open water, many others parked in the Bridgewater Channel. David Bradshaw of Tucson, was hanging out in the channel with a group of four friends who decided to celebrate one of their birthdays in this popular summer spot. "We came to get away and just have a good time," he said.
Bradshaw, like many others, arrived Friday and will stay through Sunday, not leaving until sometime Monday. "Memorial Day weekend is traditionally one of the busiest weekends, and the true start of the summer boating season," said Lake Havasu City Convention and Visitors Bureau President and CEO Char Beltran. "Judging from the crowds this weekend, this summer will be a good one."
