The Old Sacramento Scavenger Hunt serves as a working example of the core idea that Trailmix.Net is constructed around: tapping into the educational potential of backyards, state parks, national parks, and other public lands for recreational purposes.
The scavenger hunt starts at the Pony Express Statue in Old Sacramento and directs players to ten historic locations including The Wells Fargo Museum, The Old Schoolhouse Museum, The Delta King, The Eagle Theatre, The Huntington and Hopkins Hardware Store, and finally back to the Trailmix.Net store where children can claim a free prize from a wooden treasure chest during normal store hours. No purchase is necessary to participate in the scavenger hunt or to claim a prize.

At that time, free copies of the scavenger hunt riddles and map will also be available on site in Old Sacramento.
