Terrenew, LLC is a company formed out of intellectual property and product patents developed at Cornell University. The products are based on the fact that lingo-cellulosic plant materials are excellent absorbent materials for contaminants such as oil, gasoline (hydro-carbon based materials), hydrogen sulfide and heavy metals.
The company has recently launched its new interactive website [http://www.terrenew.com describing the various products and current research as well as information about the industries and applications of their products.
The first product line is OilMaster7X absorbent. This product comes in two forms the first being a granular oil absorbent that uses dried plant-based material as its main component. The second is an absorbent pad that, when the plant material is combined with a bi-component binder and is manufactured in sheet form, absorbent pads of various sizes can be produced. Both of these products have shown to compete effectively with traditional absorbent products on the market and are biodegradable and environmentally friendly.
The granular absorbent has proven to compete very well with the traditional heavy and carcinogenic clay-based products such as kitty litter or speedy dry, as it is often referred to, and the pads are an excellent alternative to traditional polypropylene pads.
SulfaMaster is a product that uses dairy manure and other farm byproducts to remove toxic hydrogen sulfide from biogas. Since hydrogen sulfide can combine with water to cause acid rain and to corrode engines, its removal makes biogas a more viable alternative fuel source. SulfaMaster could be used to sustain small farms and treat biogas derived from landfills. SulfaMaster will compete effectively with traditional and more expensive industrial scrubbers that are not feasible for smaller farms and can also be used in sewage treatment plants and landfills.
MetalMaster uses aged waste tree bark in the remediation of heavy metal contaminants from groundwater and industrial process water. Unlike OilMaster and SulfaMaster that are sold as packaged products, MetalMaster will require unique engineered solutions designed for the specific site and situations.
Additional application and technical information on all of these products may be found on the Terrenew website.
Terrenew's plan is to market the OilMaster brand through a network of distributors. The initial effort of distribution development has occurred in upstate NY where a comprehensive network of distributors including oil & lubricant companies, industrial products suppliers and environmental remediation firms are now carrying OilMaster as a part of their product / service offerings.
The company has recently begun developing distributors in downstate NY, New Jersey and Pennsylvania and is also beginning to develop distributors in Georgia and North Carolina.
In addition to the regional distributors, Terrenew has been successful in completing arrangements with several companies that have a national reach that are selling OilMaster through their websites and product catalogues.
As part of Terrenew's overall marketing plan, a continued expansion of distributors, both regional and national will be actively pursued. As the geographic sales coverage is increases, Terrenew plans on establishing production facilities in areas where product sales will justify a regional facility. In addition to the upstate NY location, a logical expansion would include a production facility in the Southeast, Midwest, Southwest and the West coast.
