KiptonART Anoints 12 Emerging Artists to Render Finance-themed Commission
KiptonART Anoints 12 Emerging Artists to Render Finance-themed Commission based on six finance expressions, respectively (i.e. Wall Street, hedge fund, Chinese wall, bubbles, bull market, and black box). Underwritten by a private banker client, the project kicked off with an "artist search" and exhibition unveiling of the collection is upcoming.
New York, NY (PRWEB) May 28, 2009 -- On September 1, KiptonART announced plans to develop a landmark commission project, comprising 12 varietals of contemporary art, all based on six finance expressions, respectively (i.e. Wall Street, hedge fund, Chinese wall, bubbles, bull market, and black box). Underwritten by a private banker client, the project kicked off with an "artist search" in September, calling public and exclusive painters, photographers, and alternative media artists to submit commission proposals inspired by the aforementioned terms and compete to create one of the 12 works. After scrupulous examination, today, KiptonART announces the winning commissionees who are based in both New York and international centers around the world. They are as follows:
| | - Suzanne Boatenreiter (sculptor/installation artist)
- Dave Eppley (sculptor/installation artist)
- Moses Foster (painter/photographer)
- James Kennedy (painter)
- Erin Kornfeld (photographer)
- Gianni Monteleone (painter/photographer)
- Matthias Neumann (sculptor/installation artist)
- Josh Ott (multimedia artist)
- Michael Rollins (painter)
- Daniel Rosenbaum (sculptor/painter)
- Diane and Mark Weisbeck (sculptors and official U.S. artists of summer 2008 Olympic Games)
- Stephen Yates (painter)
| In view of the recent setbacks on Wall Street and searing volatility of the financial markets, this project couldn't have arrived at a more critical time. Over the next three months, all 12 artists will transform their sketches, blueprints, and PowerPoint presentations into two- and three-dimensional works of art, thereby offering up not only formal representations of the finance terms assigned to them, but also personal commentaries on the banking world and present-day economy. It has also been confirmed, in February, KiptonART patrons, celebrity collectors, and press will gather for a private soirée and preview of the works before they're exhibited behind closed doors. Preview date and venue pending.
KiptonART (launched in 2002) is a private enterprise that culls fledgling artists and introduces them to the foremost ambassadors of the Manhattan art world. On a continual basis, KiptonART selects a varied group of up-and-coming artists and provides an outlet for them to exhibit their work in public spaces and online. Former events have been organized at Van Cleef & Arpels, SoHo House, Milk Studios, FLAnk's Novare, Diesel, Maurice Villency, and the Chelsea Art Museum. KiptonART continues to work on its latest spin-off, KiptonART Music, an ongoing concert series with Men's Vogue, as well as the launch of KiptonART Rising, a multi-phase artist series slated for 2009.
