A Happy Response to the Rise in Suicide Rates During these Tough Economic Times
Chappale Linn Burton, Author of 'How To Choose Happiness…Most of the Time' Discusses Preventative Methods to Deal With the Rise in Suicide Rates. Burton Witnessed the Double Murder of His Parents and Explains the Tools that he Used to Overcome his Grief, which can be Akin to the Loss that Many People are Experiencing During These Challenging Economic Times.
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) May 28, 2009 -- In March of this year, David Hasemyer from the Union-Tribune reported on yet another suicide related to the current economic climate. He wrote about another man who "On Jan. 5, fatally shot himself in his bedroom, another victim of the psychological toll of unemployment, the loss of a home or the struggle to make ends meet during a deep recession."
Chappale Linn Burton from Monday Smiles states that, "Tough economic times do not have to lead to this type of fatality. What seems to be happening is that many people link their identity to their job and when they lose their job they feel like they have lost their soul." Burton is of the opinion that these are the times to build character and, as challenging as it may be, find the opportunity in change.
He has many ideas on how to turn the fear, worry and doubt that many are experiencing during these tough times, into growth, development and exploration. He is the author of "How to Choose Happiness…Most of the Time: 30 Ways In 30 Days", in which he uses his own tragic story as a tool for transformation.
He was just 8 years old when he stood over the bodies of his dead parents as they lay in pools of blood. While playing on a playground in Chicago, IL, in 1977, he witnessed a man gun down both of his parents in broad daylight. He was that child that "watched in terror" as reported in the Chicago Tribune October 23, 1977. As the gun man slowly and calmly walked away, he made direct eye contact with him, and in that moment he knew his life had been changed forever.
Over thirty years later, he has been able to forgive the assailant for his horrific and seemingly unforgivable actions that day and choose a life of happiness for himself. He has also dedicated his life to helping others choose happiness. Chappale states, "I have uncovered different techniques to continually manage my emotional states, and have devised a 30 day program with simple techniques that can help anyone to choose happiness on a daily basis.
I want my life to be an example of the happiness that you can find and the boundless possibilities that one can experience under any circumstances." World renowned speaker and trainer, Brian Tracy agrees and recently said of the book, "Wow! this fast moving inspirational book shows you how to be happy and joyous under any conditions!"
