The latest sales figures for Volkswagen have shown that the car manufacturer increased its marketing share in the first quarter of 2009 affirming its claim to make the cars that customers want.

The Mk6 is the quickest ever car in the company's range, and coupled with its stunning looks, quality build and great handling, it's no wonder drivers can't wait to get their hands on it.
The Mk6 has a top speed of 149 miles per hour and can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 6.9 seconds, but despite this awesome power, the car is, rather miraculously, more eco-friendly.
CO2 emissions in the latest VW GTI model are down from 189g/km to 170g/km, and it can now do 38.7 miles per gallon, compared to 35 previously, thanks to some refinements to the engine.
The Stirling Observer's, Stewart Smith commented that on the road the Golf GTI is "civilised and refined and a joy to drive", and a smooth operator on all road conditions.
Furthermore, the vehicle offers plenty of leg, head and shoulder room, with Smith's overall assessment stating that the car is a "quality product".
According to Volkswagen, the vehicle's "dynamic good looks and superb cabin are designed to thrill with every drive" and all the reviews seem to confirm the company's claims.
The Golf GTI has it all, offering all the power and fun of a sporty model whilst having consideration for the environment, which may explain its popularity with customers.
New models start at around £21,000 but for those on a tighter budget, a used VW may provide the answer.
