In memory of a Houston area toddler who lost her life to neuroblastoma, an aggressive form of pediatric cancer, golf lovers will gather Saturday, May 30, 2009, at the Houston Oaks Golf Course in Hockley for a fund-raising tournament and family outing.

Local sports celebrities will join families and friends of Grace Scansy to raise awareness for neuroblastoma. The event will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m., with a second round beginning at 1 p.m. Families will enjoy a crawfish boil after the tournament as well as an auction.

Grace lost her fight with neuroblastoma when she was only 2 years old. But her family and friends continue to work with CNCF to raise awareness in hopes of improving the life expectancy of other neuroblastoma patients, most of whom are under 5 years old. Tumors associated with neuroblastoma form in immature nerve cells in infants and young children. Currently, its cause is unknown.

All event proceeds will benefit the Children's Neuroblastoma Cancer Foundation (CNCF), a national non-profit organization which offers support for families of children stricken with this aggressive form of pediatric cancer and raises funds for education and research.
