Economic Optimism Increases but So Does the Price of Gas

X-Treme brand electric vehicles help Americans take control of their economic destiny

Newton, IA (PRWEB) June 2, 2009 -- While the economy still has room for improvement, consumer confidence is increasing. At the same time, gasoline prices appear to be inching upwards.

U.S. consumer confidence increased in May to the highest level in eight months. The Conference Board announced their index of consumer confidence jumped to 54.9 in May 2009 from 40.8 in April. "Consumers are considerably less pessimistic than they were earlier this year," said Lynn Franco, director of The Conference Board's Consumer Research Center (http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20090526/us_nm/us_usa_economy_confidence).

The price of gasoline is increasing as consumer confidence returns. The federal government's Energy Information Administration indicates that the national average price per gallon for regular gasoline has risen 43% since the week of December 29, 2008. In certain areas of the country, regular gasoline is now around $2.50 a gallon.

Instead of reliving the economic pain of 2008 when gasoline prices were around $4 per gallon, a savvy consumer might purchase an electric vehicle this summer. X-Treme scooters (www.x-tremescooters.com) offers over 30 affordable electric vehicles to match any need or any budget. Many models do not require a driver's license or registration. Some models travel 60 miles per hour and go 85 miles on a single electric charge.

Certain X-Treme electric models qualify for the 10% federal tax credit that was approved by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. X-Treme also offers an electric bicycle. Commuters who ride their bicycles to work can ask their employers for up to a $20 monthly federal tax credit provided by the Bicycle Commuter Benefits Act of 2008 that went into effect on January 1, 2009.

X-Treme Scooters has been marketing scooters since 2001. For more details about all of the X-Treme models, visit the following website - http://www.x-tremescooters.com
