Confused.com Reveals: Which 'Britain's Got Talent' Contestant is Odds-On to Win... When it Comes to Car Insurance
Susan Boyle may worry about the about the changes to her car insurance if she takes up singing full time.
Cardiff (PRWEB) June 2, 2009 -- As Simon Cowell takes pole position in finding Britain's finest talent, Confused.com looks at how professions can affect premiums when it comes to protecting your Peugeot (or Porsche as the case may be for Simon).
Unsurprisingly, Simon Cowell is high maintenance when it comes to insuring his reported fleet of high performance motors. As the music mogul is the reported proud owner of an Aston Martin, Jag and Rolls (to name a few), it goes without saying the insurance adds up to a pretty penny. That is not accounting for the increase in premiums his profession would incur.
Susan Boyle, Britain's newest celebrity, is reported to be struggling with the pressures of fame. On top of the stress of delivering a perfect performance on Saturday night she may worry about the changes to her car insurance as if she takes up singing full time and moves to London she could see her premium more than double.
Will Thomas, head of car insurance quotes at confused.com said: "When you work in the entertainment business, premiums are affected for a number of reasons. For starters, the perceived long and unsociable hours could make a difference. One could also assume there would be expensive possessions in the car and the car itself is likely to be of a higher spec than the average Joe."
"On top of that providers may assume that the passengers in the car could be in the same industry, equally as successful, and with equally high salaries. In the event of an accident, insurance providers would stand to fork out a lot more in terms of lost earnings and injury for the likes of Amanda and Piers if they accepted a lift from Mr Cowell."
The florist from Opera/flower-arranging duo Floral High Notes might want to go solo if he wants to benefit from wilting car insurance premiums. Without his opera singing partner he could prune off a third of his premium, as florists like him are a good bet for insurers even if the odds aren't so favourable for them reaching The Royal Variety performance in the near future!
And here's not forgetting Shaheen Jafargholi. Although not old enough to drive, if Jafargholi is still in the spotlight at 17 he could have the cost of fame to contend with as well as his young driver premium, with car insurance as big as his potential. Staying true to his Welsh roots could keep the costs down with some areas of London pushing the cost up even further.
Thomas concluded: "Occupation has a bearing on your motor premiums so being truthful is essential in order to generate an accurate price from the provider. Those tempted to tweak titles to get cheap car insurance cover could invalidate policies leaving them stranded at the road side or worse. And nothing is less rock and roll!"
