New Solar Energy Website and Blog Encourages a Greener Lifestyle
SolarMidnightOil.com is a new website that is promoting the use of solar energy as a viable alternative to fossil fuels. Recently, the site's founder sat down to talk about the new blog and the new products that are featured on the site.
Kingston, TN (PRWEB) June 3, 2009 -- These days, people are starting to recognize how the practices of the past (and some in the present) have damaged the environment. Susan Watson is an entrepreneur whose son's interest in solar power piqued her own curiosity.
"People are reluctant to get into solar power, but if they start off in little ways - like beginning with solar lights - they can build their confidence in using it as a practical alternative," said Watson.
A former electrical engineer who has a background in nuclear power stations, Watson is the proprietor of www.SolarMidnightOil.com, a new website that specializes in information and products regarding the pros of utilizing solar powered lights.
"It's a multifaceted and educational site," said Watson.
With facts, forums and several products such as solar lights of all sorts, Solar Midnight Oil is easily one of the most comprehensive destinations for this type of alternative energy.
Though the site, which launched in March 2009, is still in its infancy, Watson plans on continually expanding the information provided, as well as the product catalog.
"I've added solar backpacks recently," she said. "When I started developing the website, I had to ask myself, 'What can my site do for others?'"
According to Watson, some of the proceeds from the website goes towards buying solar backpacks for people who participate in mission trips, as well as a variety of other organizations with humanitarian causes.
One recent development that the website is now boasting is the freshly launched blog, www.SolarMidnightOilBlog.com. The blog will expand some of the information that is mentioned on the website, but also expands to the futuristic goals of solar energy.
As people start to look at other means to have energy aside from fossil fuels, Watson is sure that with the right encouragement, solar energy can help resituate the lacking environment.
"Solar power can be useful," she explained. "Right now, it has a lack of visibility, so I want to talk about how it is helping us. I want people to use the site as a learning tool."
