Rancho Cordova, Calif. (PRWEB) June 9, 2009
Pearson, the global leader in education and education technology, announced today that Greeneville City School District in Greeneville, Tenn., has decided to upgrade its student information system (SIS) from Pearson's SASI to Pearson's fastest-growing, web-based product, PowerSchool Premier.
As a Pearson SIS customer for more than a decade, Greeneville City School District is receiving a PowerSchool Premier license from the School Systems group of Pearson at no cost through the SASI Customer First program. This program is focused on transitioning long-term SIS customers to one of Pearson's flagship products, PowerSchool Premier.
"I'm thankful for the SASI Customer First program; it was the only way we could have made the move to PowerSchool Premier," said Beverly Miller, Greeneville City School District's chief technology officer. "SASI has been a great product for us, and PowerSchool Premier's web-based interface will give us more flexibility and affordability."
Upgrading to PowerSchool Premier provides several key benefits to Greeneville City School District, including access to secure, real-time student information through a web browser -- effectively creating an interactive dialogue between parents, students and teachers. In addition, district users will store data in one centralized location, so they can seamlessly generate student schedules, attendance records, grade checks, report cards and transcripts.
"With the right technology infrastructure, educators can make timely, strategic decisions about student performance based on quick and easy access to data," said Paul Fletcher, president of the School Systems group of Pearson. "By selecting PowerSchool now, Greeneville City School District can create an open, integrated solution that enables the district to adapt to the ever-evolving technology landscape of the 21st century."
PowerSchool Premier will serve as the information backbone for Greeneville City School District's more than 3,200 students and nearly 200 teachers. The District expects to complete the implementation of PowerSchool Premier by July 2009.
