TRACOM Group Highlights Importance of Emotional Intelligence for Positive Business Performance
TRACOM whitepaper and webinar explore why emotional intelligence is important, how it can be applied in the workplace and how it can be improved
Highlands Ranch, Colo. (PRWEB) June 3, 2009 -- Research indicates a strong relationship between business performance and emotional intelligence. In recent years, interest in emotional intelligence has grown as research shows impact on a variety of business measures, including recruiting and job selection, sales results and leadership performance. Emotional intelligence is the ability to perceive, control and evaluate emotions to improve work and personal life.
In a new whitepaper titled, “Emotional Intelligence: What’s New, What’s True — Improving EQ with Behavioral Styles,” the TRACOM Group explores the importance of emotional intelligence and its direct link to critical business measures and individual success, more so than traditional measures such as IQ. The complimentary whitepaper can be downloaded at http://www.tracomcorp.com/forms/eiwhitepaper.html.
The whitepaper also explores the genetic disposition people have for emotional intelligence and the affect it has on improved leadership and managerial performance. However, research also shows that emotional intelligence, just like technical skills, can be developed through a systematic and consistent approach to training and development.
One important element of emotional intelligence is empathy and the ability to create effective relationships with others. A key to improving emotional intelligence is understanding behavioral preferences, not just of one’s self but more importantly, of others and understanding how to adapt behaviors to achieve the desired outcome.
The content of the whitepaper was presented during two recent webinars titled, “Improving Emotional Intelligence Through Behavioral Style.” The webinars were presented in conjunction with HR.com and with Talent Management Magazine. More than 2,500 people registered for the two webinars.
“In HR.com’s ten-year history, TRACOM's emotional intelligence webinar was one of HR.com's most popular webinars,” said Debbie McGrath, HR.com founder. “HR.com is committed to providing webinars and resources of value to the human resources community and the effective use of emotional intelligence is essential in every business.”
The webinar can be viewed at http://www.avitage.com/client_projects/tracom/042909/archive/Emotional-Intelligence/index.html. Additionally, next month TRACOM will release a guide that provides specific advice for improving emotional intelligence. “Enhancing Emotional Intelligence with Style” will be the fourth guide in TRACOM’s Working With Style series.
