CANIDAE Pet Foods Helps FreeKibble.com Feed Shelter Dogs and Cat
CANIDAE All Natural Pet Foods has committed to support Mimi Ausland and her charity FreeKibble.com as they feed needy pets across the United States.
San Luis Obispo, CA (PRWEB) June 5, 2009 -- CANIDAE Pet Foods, Inc. (www.canidae.com), a manufacturer of all natural holistic pet foods that are fed and recommended by thousands of certified breeders and rescue organizations throughout North America, has pledged to make ongoing donations to FreeKibble.com, a charity dedicated to providing high quality food to shelter dogs and cats from Oregon to Florida.
FreeKibble.com was founded by twelve-year-old Mimi Ausland from Bend, Oregon, who wanted to help feed the hungry animals at her local animal shelter. "There are tens of thousands of dogs and cats in animal shelters across the country, all needing to be fed a good meal," said Mimi. Animal shelters work hard to see that none of their animals go hungry, but in tough economic times their donations go down dramatically. With her parents' help, Mimi launched FreeKibble.com on April 1, 2008. As of this writing, the charity has supplied over 200 million pieces of kibble for hungry dogs and cats.
In addition to providing free kibble to the Humane Society of Central Oregon, Mimi has started to reach out across the country. FreeKibble.com now has 13 animal shelters on a monthly program, and hopes to add more. The most recent donation by CANIDAE Pet Foods was a 3,000 pound load of premium kibble, which is enough to feed about 6,000 dogs for one day.
The success of Mimi's website and charity stems from how simple it is to donate. Visitors go to FreeKibble.com and answer the Bow Wow Trivia question of the day. Each day one plays, no matter if their answer is right or wrong, FreeKibble.com is able to donate 10 more pieces of kibble to a needy shelter.
The extensive media coverage of Mimi Ausland and FreeKibble.com has helped this pet charity to continue to grow and help even more animals. NBC Nightly News and People Magazine have both run features on the project, and Mimi was recently a guest on the Oprah Winfrey show. Mimi received the ASPCA Kid of the Year Award last year, and was also named one of the Top 10 'Not So Ordinary' Pet People by ZooToo.
