New Executive Director Takes The Helm For Visit Carlsbad DMO
After conducting a national search for a qualified candidate, the Visit Carlsbad board of directors unanimously selected Sam Ross.
Carlsbad, CA (PRWEB) June 5, 2009 -- The Board of Directors for Visit Carlsbad recently conducted a national search to fill the executive director's position. "The position was ultimately filled with the most qualified and passionate candidate," said Randy Nakagawa, Chairman of the Board. He further commented, "During the process, Sam's extensive sales and marketing background, along with his personable demeanor made him a stand-out candidate."
Ross is a graduate of the University of South Florida with a degree in Mass Communications and Advertising. He has a well-rounded background with specialties in corporate advertising and marketing and sales. Additionally, Ross spent seven years with San Diego ConVis in membership and ultimately assumed the responsibilities of Director of Partnership Marketing & Member Opportunities.
Ross a former resident of Carlsbad commented, "I'm very happy to be back in Carlsbad, and excited for the opportunity to direct the marketing and tourism efforts for this City."
Ross and his wife Tiffani have two children.
He fills the position that has been occupied by Frankie Laney, Public Relations Director for the organization. Laney commented, "We are very excited and fortunate to have Sam leading our team. His strong marketing skills and progressive thinking will be a great addition for Visit Carlsbad." Laney has served as Interim Executive Director since the position was vacated December 16, 2008.
According to Bob Moore, Vice-chairman of the Board of Directors for Visit Carlsbad, "Sam has a great sense of where markets and industry trends are going and how to best leverage opportunities. This is especially vital to the hospitality and tourism business during these economic times. He will bring a great deal of prestige to Carlsbad with the existing hoteliers as Visit Carlsbad continues to strive for the very best."
