I had to find a way to deal with this problem without risking the health of our dogs and ourselves
Asheville, NC (PRWEB) June 6, 2009
Jack Carrier had a problem that faces most pet owners at one time or another: His two dogs had fleas. Abby, a golden retriever, and Maggie, a lab, both thirteen years old, lived with Jack, his family, and three other animals. All of the animals had been treated with a commercial topical pesticide. But the fleas seemed to be resistant to these treatments. Jack's dogs and home were soon infested by the pesky parasites. It got so bad that Maggie had to be put on medication to ease her constant scratching. "I had to find a way to deal with this problem without risking the health of our dogs and ourselves," Jack says.
The experience motivated Jack to seek out natural flea control methods that were both effective and safe. He began researching online to find steps he could take to alleviate the flea problem. "I was frustrated because the information available was scattered and contradictory," says Jack. "That's when I realized that a concise, authoritative, well-researched ebook about natural flea control could have practical appeal in the market."
Jack contacted experts from various universities around the world and found them too busy with other projects. Knowing that his own community of Asheville, North Carolina was a center of holistic medicine as well as very animal-friendly, Jack ran an online ad to seek out a professional writer. Fortunately, he found a perfect fit: Barry Silverstein, a local author of numerous books who was also involved in and passionate about animal welfare.
Barry did extensive research, got input from veterinarians, and wrote "Flea Control: How to Get Rid of Fleas Naturally." This new ebook includes detailed information about how to fight fleas outside and inside the home, and how to prevent and control fleas on dogs and cats, using natural, safe and effective methods. Numerous natural substances and safe techniques are included such as diatomaceous earth and how to get rid of fleas with salt.
The book draws from research done by such organizations as the Natural Resources Defense Council and the Center for Public Integrity. It includes useful checklists and links to many additional sources. It even contains an amusing "what if" story about "fleas in the White House."
