The Portable Gas Detector can detect propane, butane, acetylene and methane (natural gas) leaks. It emits an audible alarm and sets off an LED indicator when the presence of gas is detected at levels higher than 1,200ppm (parts per million). The Portable Gas Detector can detect gas at ¼ of the gas explosion risk. The laboratory-tested, portable detector can be used to check gas leaks in pipes, fittings, valves, gas storage tanks, home appliance tanks and hot water heaters.
The Portable Gas Detector is made of urethane rubber, and is small enough to fit in the pocket. To operate, it uses two AA batteries, and no calibration is required over the course of the product's lifetime. A three-light LED indicator flashes green when the power is on, yellow if low amounts of gas are detected and red if high amounts, over 5,000ppm, are detected. To use, an individual simply places the end of the Portable Gas Detector next to a pipe, fitting or valve. If gas is detected, the lights will blink and an alarm will be emitted.
