Independent Living Aids, LLC, Addresses the 2009 Mereo AGM Conference in Frankfurt, Germany

Irwin Schneidmill, President of Independent Living Aids (ila), spoke at the 2009 Mereo AGM Conference coinciding with the SightCity Fair in Frankfurt, Germany to introduce his company to the European Union and to discuss his goal of improving the lives of the blind and visually impaired.

Jericho, New York (PRWEB) June 7, 2009 -- This May, Irwin Schneidmill, President of Independent Living Aids (ila), was invited to speak at the 2009 Mereo AGM Conference coinciding with the SightCity Fair in Frankfurt, Germany. The SightCity Fair is the largest fair in Germany for low vision aids. Each year, manufacturers from all over the world gather to present their products in the field of specialized aids for the blind and visually impaired. Mr. Schneidmill addressed the members of Mereo to introduce his company to the European Union and to discuss his goal of improving the lives of the blind and visually impaired.

After quoting an excerpt from Winston Churchill's interview upon the occasion of his 80th birthday,* Mr. Schneidmill explained how millions of blind and visually-impaired citizens around the world demonstrate their lion hearts every day under difficult circumstances and that ila is privileged to be able to 'give the roar' for these men, women, and children by helping them live enriched, independent and productive lives.

ila isn't just a business venture for Mr. Schneidmill. His grandfather was blind and his mother told him of the intense difficulty he had navigating life's most basic tasks. He stated that, through ila, he is now participating in a noble goal, "to ensure that the blind and visually impaired are no longer subjected to these daily indignities."

Mr. Schneidmill is proud to be part of the long-standing dedication and hard work of ila, which was founded in 1977 by Marvin Sandler. "Honesty and integrity are woven into the fabric of Independent Living Aids," Mr. Schneidmill explains. The company believes that superior customer service is the key to its success for the past three decades and it continues to make every effort to provide the best services to all customers with every phone call, delivery, and correspondence. He states, "As owner and president of Independent Living Aids, I am committed to reinforcing the integrity, honesty, and customer service that have served as the foundation of this company for 32 years." He goes on to explain, "I believe that customer loyalty is a gift to be treasured."

Three products were highlighted during his speech to the general assembly at the Mereo Conference: the Moshi Voice-Controlled, Interactive, Talking Alarm Clock; the Mini-Telescopic Cane; and a line of Braille Talking Watches. These products are distributed exclusively by ila and offer significant benefits to the company's clientele.

Before concluding his speech, Mr. Schneidmill expressed his dismay at the current level of Braille literacy in the United States. He explained that the National Federation of the Blind reported that fewer than 10% of the legally blind community in the US read Braille. Although there are technological substitutes for reading Braille, many experts agree that learning Braille provides a deeper understanding of material and that those who read Braille have a higher likelihood to earn advanced degrees, find good jobs and live independently. However, he believes that the trend is shifting, as shown by a Braille literacy requirement for blind or visually-impaired children in the New York State school system which he said "leads me to be quite hopeful."
