Vestal, N.Y. (Vocus/PRWEB ) June 6, 2009 -- University Animal Hospital (UAH) is merging with Southern Tier Veterinary Associates (STVA) in a move designed to better serve the area’s pets through a wider range of services, extensive diagnostic tools and advanced treatment technologies.

In announcing the merger which was finalized on May 11, Dr. John Crowell of STVA said the high cost of today’s technology can only be obtained through larger veterinary organizations. “The leaders of both practices are committed to providing the latest technology and the widest range of services for the area’s pets. Combining our two practices is an effective way to do this,” said Dr. Crowell.

Under the agreement, the UAH practice is being consolidated at the STVA facility at 205 Front Street. Medical records are being transferred and pet owners are being notified of the change.

“All of us at STVA look forward to meeting our new patients and the people who care for them,” added Dr. Diane Wittner. “On behalf of Dr. Alain Giroux and Dr. Caroline Bowlin, all of our licensed veterinary technicians, customer service representatives and veterinary assistants, I would like to extend a warm welcome to the dogs, cats, reptiles, birds and pocket pets and their pet parents.”

To make the transition as smooth as possible, STVA is encouraging pet owners to learn more about the facility and the services provided. Pet owners can view the facility’s website, www.stvavestal.com, or schedule a tour of the facility by calling (607) 754.7164. STVA is also hosting an open house on Thursday, June 11, from 10am to noon and from 5pm to 7pm. A second open house will be offered on Saturday, June 13, from 10am to noon.

STVA provides a full range of veterinary services, including physical examinations, second opinions and preventative medical treatment. It offers state-of-the-art, in-hospital radiology, surgery, dentistry and ultrasound. STVA is an accredited member of the American Animal Hospital Association. This accreditation is achieved by less than 17 percent of the small animal veterinary facilities in the United States and Canada.
