OPTISWIRL Product Line Ideal for Energy Management Concerns

KROHNE, Inc., a global technology leader in the development, manufacture and distribution of accurate, reliable and cost effective measurement Instrumentation for the process industries, announces that Joe Incontri, Marketing Manager for the Americas for KROHNE, recently provided a podcast informing audience members of one of the most critical areas in the industrial environment: Energy Management. As Joe infomed the audience, the importance of Energy Management cannot be overstated, because the ability of a business to manage and control energy costs, quite simply, means saving money. In turn, Joe offered up KROHNE's OPTISWIRL product line as a cost-effective way to handle energy management concerns.

As Joe explained in the podcast, Energy Management translates to control, and in turn, one cannot control what cannot be measured: Therefore, measurement is perhaps one of the most vital aspects of Energy Management. Joe went on to provide the audience with an example of steam flow as it relates to energy management. Joe advised the audience that one of the most cost-effective measurement solutions for both steam and compressed-air applications are is a Flowmeter based on the vortex shedding principle. These are easy-to-use devices that feature high rangeability (which means they can be used in a wide range of process conditions) while providing an accurate measure of steam, vapor or gas flow rates with very low pressure drops. This means that less of the energy used to produce the media (air or steam) will be lost during the measurement.

KROHNE currently has a Flowmeter product called the OPTISWIRL that is ideal for Energy Management. KROHNE's all-in-one OPTISWIRL Instrumentation product delivers accurate measurement of standard volumetric and mass flow of conductive and non-conductive liquids, gases and vapors, even in applications that are prone to pressure and temperature fluctuations. Furthermore, the OPTISWIRL Flowmeter is the only device available in a two-wire configuration that combines a vortex flowmeter with a built-in temperature sensor in the flow stream and an integral pressure sensor at the point of measure. This combination is ideal for determining not only the apparent, or actual flow of steam or air, but the actual energy value being delivered, which is the ultimate goal of any energy distribution system.

Joe concluded by informing the audience that when it comes to true Energy Management savings, the OPTISWIRL Flowmeter is ideally suited for a variety of industries, including the chemical, oil and gas industries, and also larger commercial institutions such as central or district heating and cooling facilities, hospitals, and colleges. The OPTISWIRL Instrumentation product is also designed for an assortment of applications in these environments, such as vapor and saturated steam measurement, steam boiler monitoring, compressor control or compressed air systems monitoring. The meter can also be used for measurement of industrial gases, burner consumption measurement, and SIP or CIP processes in the food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries.
