Montreal, Quebec (PRWEB) June 9, 2009

Presagis™, a leading provider of commercial-off-the shelf (COTS) modeling, simulation and embedded display graphics software, today announced that XPI Simulation Ltd. (XPI) has selected interoperable software, AI.implant™ and Creator™, from Presagis to support the development of a driving simulator. The XPI simulator, which will be used by a division of the United Kingdom (UK) Police, will simulate emergency response and pursuit scenarios to aid in the safe and effective training of police drivers.

"The true power of Presagis tools is found in the complimentary features that are tightly integrated across their software portfolio," said David Fulker, Technical Director, XPI Simulation Ltd. "Thanks to Presagis we are able to deliver high-quality simulations quickly. Selecting pre-integrated tools gives us an out-of-the-box experience that saves time and money and avoids lengthy database development and integration."

Harnessing the robust features of the Presagis tools to deliver a realistic and immersive training environment, XPI is using Creator to build highly-detailed models such as cars, buses, and road systems. To create true-to-life behavior of entities, XPI is using AI.implant to deliver the artificial intelligence (AI) behaviors needed for the dynamic training environment. Taking advantage of the interoperability between Creator and AI.implant, XPI modelers can relate existing Creator model data associated with cars and road systems with AI.implant so that AI can be quickly and easily implemented in the simulation.

The XPI driving simulator will deliver highly realistic views of road scenes and provide the ability to simulate emergency response and pursuit situations for the training of police drivers. The UK Police will leverage the system to assess drivers and optimize training at lower costs and risk to the organization while also meeting governmental targets related to maintaining public safety and reducing carbon emissions of government vehicles.

"Emergency response driving is a high-priority skill, but can be an expensive and time consuming training initiative," said Robert Kopersiewich, VP of Product and Program Management. "As a result, law enforcement leaders like the UK Police are increasingly turning to technology partners like XPI to deliver innovative ways that ensure personnel are properly trained to react in emergency situations."
