Sussex, WI (PRWEB) June 12, 2009 -- Toobee International, manufacturer of the popular "Amazing Flying Can" throw-toy, announced today that it will support CannedWater4Kids in their efforts to bring clean, safe water to the children of the world. To be exact, Toobee announced that 100% of all company profits will go to support the clean-water initiatives of CannedWater4Kids. In addition, Toobee International also funded the drilling of a clean-water well. A single well can quickly and effectively provide clean water to hundreds.
Why water?
According to the Second UN World Water Development Report, more than a billion people--almost one-fifth of the world's population--lack access to safe drinking water, and 40 percent lack access to basic sanitation.
The World Health Organization says, a child dies every eight seconds from drinking dirty water. It is estimated that 5,000 children die every day as a result of drinking unsafe water. And, every 21 seconds a child perishes from waterborne diseases such as typhoid, cholera, and dysentery. A UNICEF Report found that about six million people are blind today from Trachoma, an eye infection spread mainly through poor hygiene caused by lack of adequate water supplies and unsafe environmental sanitation conditions.
Not only is it essential for successful agriculture, food and energy production, It is a children's issue because water is vital for healthy development and survival. Because so many do not have clean water, the world needs our help.
