It feels like every day, some new piece of circus history or Coney Island history is being made
Brooklyn, NY (PRWEB) June 11, 2009
Feld Entertainment, parent company of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey®, (http://www.Ringling.com/ConeyIsland) announced today that 21st Street -- the boardwalk end of which is the location for the tent complex of The Coney Island BOOM A RING -- will be renamed "BOOM A RING Blvd." for the summer! The renaming ceremony will take place in celebratory circus fashion Tuesday, June 16, at 11 a.m. at the corner of 21st Street and Surf Avenue.
"It feels like every day, some new piece of circus history or Coney Island history is being made," said Stephen C. Yaros, Feld Entertainment's VP of Event Marketing and Sales, Northeast Region. "We're honored to have 21st Street renamed for The Coney Island BOOM A RING, just as we're honored to be bringing The Greatest Show On Earth® to Brooklyn for the first time ever!"
The celebration will include representatives of and performers from The Greatest Show On Earth, the unveiling of "BOOM A RING Blvd." and "Elephant Crossing" signs, special guest Lynn Kelly, President of the Coney Island Development Corporation (CIDC), and music courtesy of Brooklyn's own Soul Tigers Marching Band.
"We are thrilled that the Ringling Brother's Circus has come to Coney Island," said CIDC President Lynn Kelly. "With the Circus in town, and Coney's iconic rides and amusements really fun and really open this summer, this is the beginning of what we hope is a long relationship with Ringling Brother's and a preview of what's to come."
The Coney Island BOOM A RING officially opens on June 18, a performance that will include a special Salute To Coney Island.
