New Book Teaches How to Survive Unemployment and Pursue Destiny in Life

Getting Up Again - Surviving Unemployment and Pursuing Destiny is a New Book That Addresses the Social Side of Layoffs. In this Inspiring Work, The Author Uses His Personal Story of Surviving a Layoff to Teach Others How to Overcome Unemployment.

Hampton, VA (PRWEB) June 16, 2009 -- A newly released book, Getting Up Again - Surviving Unemployment and Pursuing Destiny (194 pp., tpb, $12.99), sheds a bright light on the personal side of unemployment and gives a firsthand account of how layoffs affect couples. The author, Philip H. Page, Jr., uses his personal story of surviving unemployment to show the 14.5 million unemployed Americans how to pursue their own destiny in life.

The national release of Getting Up Again was celebrated by a book launch party. The party was held at Carleton Falls in Newport News, VA, which is the location where most of the book was written. The highlight of the launch party was the series of readings by the author, publisher and early fans of the book. These readings were inspiring and emotional, particularly for several couples who were feeling the effects of layoffs firsthand.

The national unemployment rate is at a 25-year high of 9.4%. Nearly 1 in 10 Americans looking for work come up empty handed. These facts make Getting Up Again a timely book as it goes beyond the economic effects of unemployment to address the social, spiritual and psychological issues that arise when a job is lost. Instead of cursing the problem or rehashing old job training tips, Getting Up Again offers pointed advice, encouragement and inspiration to those struggling with unemployment.

Getting Up Again is the author's personal and inspiring account of his unemployment experience and how he used it to find destiny and fulfillment in life. After six years at a fast growing software company, he was laid off when the business was sold to a larger competitor. The resulting story is a witty, humorous and genuine expression of the feelings that emerge from the roller coaster ride of unemployment.

"What makes this book so great is the way the author openly shares his feelings and frustrations regarding his situation. He expresses feelings that I am sure we have all had at some point in our lives…it is also a story about love and marriage and how spouses support and encourage each other through the bad times and celebrate with each other in the good times. This book will encourage you and cause you to examine how you handle different situations in your own life."

"…I laughed, I cried and ooh'd and ahh'd my way through this read. What made this book a winner for me as a woman is that this is a man who can write an excellent love story! This is what this book is... a love story."

The author of Getting Up Again, Philip H. Page, Jr., has written many articles yet offers this as his first nonfiction work. He studied writing at the College of William and Mary before refocusing on business. He graduated with a B.B.A. in Business Marketing and later earned an M.B.A. from Oklahoma State University. He is the President of Stater Company, LLC where he works with entrepreneurs to develop their passions into profitable businesses.
